Last year I did a project at Uni about Shakespeare’s sonnets so I decided to look at Sonnet 19. One line in particular stood out to me. The line was ‘pluck the keen teeth from the fierce tiger’s jaws.’ This inspired me to do this painting of the tiger with its hunting teeth having been pulled. This was originally going to be a black and white inked piece done with biro pen. However when I drew it it all out I realised that is really needed colour so I painted over the pen with water colour. This mix of biro pen and water colour has now become a favourite technique of mine.
